The short version
Documented ACTEFLC’s domain registration date is reported as January 5, 2021. TEFL Online Pro says it was founded in 2019. TrustedTEFLReviews.com’s domain was registered March 1, 2019.
That means the accreditor’s present domain appeared roughly two years after the provider and review site emerged. Timing alone proves nothing about ownership, but it makes independence and governance reasonable subjects for scrutiny.
How many providers does ACTEFLC publicly accredit?
As of this review, ACTEFLC’s indexed website prominently identifies TEFL Online Pro in its “Accredited Programs in the News” area. Broad searches of ACTEFLC’s site and the wider web did not surface a clear public roster comparable to established accreditors that lists multiple currently accredited TEFL providers.
Important limitation This does not establish that ACTEFLC accredits only one provider. ACTEFLC says accreditation status can be verified by contacting it. The point is narrower: a visitor cannot easily inspect a transparent, public multi-provider register from the indexed material we found.
Why that matters
An accreditation body can legally and practically exist with a small client base. Size alone does not invalidate accreditation. But if an accreditor is cited as a major independent reason to trust one course, independence is easier to assess when the accreditor publishes governance, named assessors, a broad client register, decisions, standards, conflicts policies, and clear corporate identity.
ACTEFLC publishes standards, an application process, fees and an appeal mechanism. Those are real transparency signals. At the same time, the visible provider evidence appears unusually concentrated around TEFL Online Pro.
What stronger accreditation transparency looks like
ACTEFLC is a private course-accreditation service, so it should not be presented as equivalent in scope or regulatory status to a nationally recognised institutional accreditor. But a stronger accreditor provides a useful transparency benchmark.
The Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), for example, publishes a searchable directory of accredited institutions, an accreditation handbook, public accreditation actions, institutions under consideration, withdrawals and accreditation denials. Its directory explains that institutions undergo an in-depth evaluation against published accreditation standards.
The comparison is not “ACTEFLC should be DEAC.” The narrower question is: if ACTEFLC is invoked as independent third-party assurance, what equivalent public evidence lets a student inspect its client base, decisions, governance and track record?
The money
ACTEFLC currently states that accreditation costs $1,800 for the first course, $1,200 for subsequent courses, with a $210 annual maintenance fee, and lasts five years.
This establishes that ACTEFLC describes itself as a functioning paid accreditation service—not merely a badge page.
The circular credibility problem
No single link proves coordination. But the three-way citation loop is exactly why independent governance matters.
What would resolve the question?
- A complete current and historical ACTEFLC accredited-provider register.
- Public legal entity details and jurisdiction.
- Named directors or governance board.
- Named or independently verifiable accreditation assessors.
- Conflict-of-interest policy covering accredited providers.
- Evidence of accreditation decisions involving multiple unrelated providers.
- Archived records showing ACTEFLC activity before or outside TEFL Online Pro.
Dubious We have not established that ACTEFLC, TEFL Online Pro and TrustedTEFLReviews share ownership, but there is a real issue with accountability, reliability, and credibility with all three of these entities: why are they so promotional and interdependent?
